How was Story Stream’s technology trained? Is my intellectual property protected?
Our AI is grounded in literary theory and human expertise, ensuring that feedback is insightful, nuanced, and deeply rooted in the craft of writing. Your life’s work will always be yours. When we coded Story Stream, we obtained consent from volunteer writers so that we could translate our editorial expertise as best as possible. Second, Story Stream never trains its editorial algorithms on any submissions made on the website.
How does Story Stream store my draft or manuscript?
Your work is yours and yours alone. We take security and privacy seriously. Every manuscript uploaded to Story Stream is stored securely in our encrypted vault, ensuring that only you have access to it. We will never share, sell or distribute your work to any third parties, and we do not use manuscripts to train AI models. Your story is safe with us - our mission is to help you improve it, not claim it.
How does the model correct for human implicit bias that finds its way into AI?
We believe assistive AI isn’t something to fear but to embrace as a powerful tool for storytelling - when trained well, with diverse perspectives and voices, and with the care and precision of years of editorial experience. In one of our tests, Story Stream identified a BIPOC character as underdeveloped and stereotyped, and suggested recommendations to address this.
